Paula is a Registered Speech and Language Pathologist; and a Clinic Director at CherringtonSawers.
Paula graduated from DeMontfort University, Leicester, United Kingdom in 1995 and has practiced as a Speech and Language Pathologist in both the United Kingdom and Canada since that time. Paula specializes in the areas of early speech and language development as well as in Social communication development and Auditory processing issues in Children of all ages. Her current caseload at CherringtonSawers encompasses children from 2-18.
Paula has completed the Advanced Training in the use of the Integrated Listening System (iLs/Advanced Level II) and the SSP (Safe and Sound Protocol). She works collaboratively with an Occupational Therapist (Sonya Sawers) to design and customize clinic-based listening (iLs) therapy programs (group and individual) at CherringtonSawers to enhance and expedite therapy gains.
Paula utilizes a holistic “whole child” approach to therapy that encompasses the goals and priorities of the family as well as the child’s needs both in their home or educational environment. Support and Consultation with families, schools and the child’s community is often an integral part of therapy in order to ensure the child’s potential is realized. Paula believes the aim of therapy is for the child to have fun and be successful within every session in order to maximize gains.
Sonya Sawers - Clinic Director, Occupational Therapist and Counsellor

Sonya is a Registered Occupational Therapist; Canadian Certified Counsellor; and a Clinic Director at CherringtonSawers.
Sonya graduated from the University of Western Ontario (UWO) in 1989 and has practiced Occupational Therapy in Toronto and Calgary, in the specialized fields of both pediatrics and mental health. She also completed her M.A. in Counselling at Gonzaga University and is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (C.C.C.), as designated by the Canadian Psychotherapy and Counselling Association.
Sonya has obtained Advanced Certifications in both iLs (Advanced/Level II) and SSP (“Safe&SoundProtocol”) training. With a keen understanding of sensory processing and regulation, she works collaboratively with co-Clinic Director and Speech-Language Pathologist, Paula Cherrington, to design and customize unique clinic-based Integrated Therapy programs to address sensory (and sound) sensitivities, anxiety, emotional regulation and social challenges in children and adolescents.
Sonya is S.I.P.T Certified - allowing her to administer and interpret the Sensory Integration and Praxis Tests (S.I.P.T) and provide therapy using an Ayres' Sensory Integration approach within her practice.
Sonya combines her counselling skills with an wholistic occupational therapy approach focusing on mental health/wellness and psychosocial development in children and adolescents who experiencing emotional regulation, behavioural, social, or academic challenges as a result of underlying sensory processing difficulties.
Support, education, and consultation for parents, family members, and/or caregivers is also an important and essential aspect of her work as Clinic Director/OT.
